Swans played their second sold-out show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg last night, making up for one postponed by Hurricane Sandy back in October. Devendra Banhart, who supported them for this show, played a short, intimate set, exchanging jokes with the crowd between songs. Swans came on shortly after. Frontman Michael Gira greeted the crowd with a polite “good morning” before launching into a two hour-long set filled with primal grunts, visceral screams, undulating limbs, and of course, the overwhelmingly powerful music that defines Swans as a band.
